Coalition Working To Mobilize African American and Latino Voters in Suffolk County

By TED HESSON, Long Island Wins

A coalition of community groups announced today a new initiative to mobilize African American, Latino, and low-income voters in Suffolk County over the course of the next month.

The Long Island Civic Engagement Table will launch a campaign to increase voting in the election this November, and then plans to continue working for years to come to improve voter participation in the county.

At the press conference for the initiative, I spoke with Daniel Altschuler, the coordinator of the table, as well as several other community leaders and Suffolk residents.
