Rules of the Road for 501c3/c4 Organizations

How can non-profits educate voters on election issues, and encourage communities to vote without endangering their 501c3 or c4 status? Local elections this year will shape the future of our county – from human services, to education, public safety, and immigrants' rights. Our organizations have a stake in these issues; though 501c3/c4 status does not mean we need to sit on the sidelines.

Led by expert advocate Abby Levine from Alliance for Justice, this workshop on May 29th, from 12:00-1:30 PM, this workshop will cover the federal rules regarding electoral activities for 501(c)(3)s, including voter registration drives, candidate questionnaires, candidate forums and legislative scorecards. We will examine examples of how non-profits can safely participate in election-related activities.
